Ubuntu

Ubuntu is a Southern African philosophy of personhood captured in the phrase "a person is a person through other people." It holds that humanity is realized in relationship, so identity, dignity, and capacity are held in common rather than stored inside a single self. Read into organizational life, mutual regard, reciprocity, and belonging are real substance rather than sentiment.

In an Ubuntu worldview the individual and the community bring one another into being, so a person cannot be fully understood apart from the relationships and conditions around them.
