Authenticity and Integrity
Truth moves through a workplace as two forces — one that expresses it, one that protects it.
Authenticity brings what is real into the room — your read, your concern, your actual self — before it has been sanded down to what's acceptable. It's the force that starts honest conversations.
Integrity keeps truth alive over time: the alignment between what was said and what gets done, the consistency that lets people rely on words. It's the force that makes honesty durable instead of episodic.
A culture needs both. Authenticity without integrity produces candor that nothing follows from. Integrity without authenticity produces reliable systems wrapped around unsaid things. When both are alive, telling the truth is safe and telling the truth matters — which is the whole game.
Truth, through three lenses

Truth in Ma'at
In the Kemetic tradition, Ma'at is truth — and something larger than accuracy. Ma'at is the right order of things: the way a life, a relationship, or a society holds together when it is aligned with what is real. In the tradition's most enduring image, a heart is weighed against the feather of Ma'at — the measure of a life being not its power or accomplishments, but its lightness: how little untruth it carried.
That image is old, and it is not decoration here. CultureROOTS measures organizations by a descendant of the same question: how much of what this workplace says, decides, and rewards can stand next to what is actually true? A culture that carries little untruth is light in exactly the way the tradition meant — and people can feel the difference in their chest on a Sunday night.
When Truth bends
Distortion names what a value becomes when conditions push on it long enough — information about the environment, never a verdict on a person.
Authenticity bends toward Conformity. When bringing your real read has gone badly enough times, people bring the acceptable read instead. The room gets smoother and knows less.
Integrity bends toward Expedience. When follow-through stops being rewarded, doing what is easy quietly replaces doing what was said. Commitments become opening positions.
If you recognize these in your organization, that recognition is not an indictment — it's a map. Distortions point directly at the conditions that produced them, and conditions can be tended.
